At la maison Aube-Lumière, on november 27th, passed away M. Ayhan Sumer at age 72. He was the husband of Phyllis Kessler and lived in Coaticook.

A private service will be held at a later date.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Phyllis, his sister: Aynur Uluatam Sumer and the late brother Omar Aydil Sumer. His nieces and nephews: Al Uluatam (Amy Hollman), Tamara Shenkier (David Landsberg), Elisa Shenkier, Tom Bellman (Ruth Rakoff) and Mitchell; grand-nieces: Kate and Sophie Uluatam. His sister-in-law: Joyce (Seymour Bellman) and the late Edna (Maurice Shenkier), other relatives and friends.

Donations to la maison Aube-Lumière would be appreciated.

À la maison Aube-Lumière le 27 novembre 2015, est décédé M. Ayhan Sumer à l'âge de 72 ans. Il était l'époux de Phyllis Kessler et demeurait à Coaticook.

Afin de respecter les dernières volontés de la famille, il n'y aura pas d'exposition. Des funérailles privées seront célébrées au printemps.

M. Sumer laisse dans le deuil outre son épouse Phyllis, sa soeur Aynur Uluatam Sumer. Il était aussi le frère de feu Omar Aydil Sumer. Ses neveux et nièces: Al Uluatam (Amy Hollman); Tamara Shenkier (David Landsberg), Elisa Shenkier, Tom Bellman (Ruth Rakoff) et Mitchell ainsi que ses petites-nièces: Kate et Sophie Uluatam. Sa belle-soeur Joyce (Seymour Bellman) et feu Edna (Maurice Skenkier), autres parents et amis.

En guise de sympathie, des dons à la Maison Aube-Lumière seraient appréciés.

Dear Phyllis,
We have just read about Ayhan,s passing. We want to send our sincere sympathy.
We have thought of you often. Shortly after our return to Ireland our computer crashed and we lost all our email addresses. Sitting here this evening, recalling our meeting you in Kusadasi, we just decided to put your name up on the computer. We are so angry with ourselves that we did not try before. We were prompted ,by a programme on television , about Alaska.
Phyliss you are in our thoughts. Xx

Dear Phyllis,

My sincerest condolences for your loss. I was deeply saddened when I heard the news and I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose your best friend. You have been in my thoughts and prayers all week.
I have so many wonderful memories with you and Ayhan that I will always cherish. He was such a lovely man. I am glad I had the chance to spend time with him, although I wish there had been more occasions to do so. I hope to speak again soon.

Ayhan my beloved uncle became part of our family decades ago. I first met him in 1973 at the country house he and Phyllis shared with an eclectic fun group of people. Phyllis would invite me and my sister Elisa for weekends of fun, food and joy and Ayhan was front and centre in every time. Their home on St Denis was part of my university memories and I was thrilled to be maid of honor at their marriage in 1984. David and I had the opportunity and privilege to visit them in Kusadasi in 1989. Ayhan was always full of innocent awe and joy. The lessons he taught me were Carpe Diem and how to cherish and appreciate the small things and moments, as they are the building blocks of a life well lived. I will miss you uncle. Deepest condolences to Phyllis, Aynour and Alderoo and the rest of our families. We will all miss him deeply.

Ayhan was a wonderful person, always full of life and interested in everyone and everything. It was a joy to be with him. He leaves us many happy memories of our times with him and Phyllis over the years. Our deepest sympathy to Phyllis, Aynur and other family members.

I felt very sorry for him , so please take my sincerely sympathy , I know him because I use to work at the family clinic, and I think I was the only one to communicate with him, with respect, so take my sympathy Phyllis end all the family. For me, he was a nice Monsieur.
